Agriculture today is under growing pressure, with volatile commodity prices, rising input costs, and increasing climate uncertainty making traditional farming approaches less reliable.
In this context, timing becomes one of the most critical factors for success, knowing when to fertilise, spray, or harvest directly impacts both yield and profitability. However, these decisions are still often based on generalized crop calendars, historical averages, or low-resolution data that fail to capture variability at the field level.
As climate change amplifies differences between seasons, such blanket approaches become increasingly ineffective, leading to inefficiencies, higher costs, and avoidable risks. This creates a clear need for more precise, field-level insights, an area where Earth Observation (EO) technologies can transform agricultural decision-making.
From Generalised Models to Field and Zone-Level Intelligence
Traditional crop growth models rely heavily on weather data. While useful, this data is typically available at a coarse spatial resolution, meaning it averages conditions across large areas. As a result, it fails to capture the variability between individual fields. Our solution TAVAP takes a different approach.
By integrating radar satellite data with weather information, TAVAP delivers field-level predictions of crop development stages (phenology). Radar data is independent of cloud cover and provides consistent, reliable observations throughout the season.
This enables a shift from generalised assumptions to precise, data-driven insights at the field scale. One of the most powerful features of TAVAP is its ability to rank fields by development stage.
In practice, this means farmers no longer treat all fields equally or rely on fixed schedules. Instead, they can:
- Identify which fields are ahead or lagging behind
- Focus resources where they are most urgently needed
- Avoid missed windows that can negatively impact yield
The prioritisation becomes increasingly important in large-scale operations, where managing hundreds or thousands of hectares requires efficient allocation of time, labour, and machinery.
The system continuously monitors crop development and environmental conditions, providing:
- Weekly updated predictions of crop growth stages
- Estimated dates of key phenological phases
- Alerts when optimal conditions for operations are approaching
This allows farmers to better schedule:
- Fertilisation
- Crop protection (spraying)
- Harvesting

Once the timing of operations is optimised, the next key step is resource allocation, applying the right amount of inputs at the right place through variable rate management.
Field conditions are almost never uniform, they vary due to differences in water availability, soil properties, topography, and crop performance.
DynaCrop addresses this by generating management zones that reflect these real growing conditions, enabling farmers to achieve high input use efficiency.
Impact
Our field trials conducted between 2023 and 2025 demonstrate that TAVAP can deliver:
- 5–10% savings in nitrogen fertiliser and seed
- 10–20% savings in plant growth regulators
- 4–6% yield increase
- €50–80/ha improvement in gross margins
Large-Scale Validation in Progress
To ensure robustness and real-world applicability, TAVAP is currently undergoing large-scale user validation.
The ongoing pilot:
- Covers over 6,500 hectares
- Involves four large farms in the Czech Republic and a precision farming service provider in Serbia
- Includes a range of key crops:
- Winter wheat
- Winter rapeseed
- Spring barley
- Corn
- Sunflower
- Sugar beet
The validation focuses on testing model performance, usability, and operational impact under real farming conditions. Feedback from these partners is essential for refining the system and ensuring it delivers tangible value in practice.
Join the Validation
We are currently onboarding new partners interested in testing and validating the system in real-world conditions.
